About
Paddling a canoe, kayak or paddleboard on the River Great Ouse in St Neots, Cambridgeshire offers a unique blend of historical charm and natural beauty. As you glide along the navigable waters, first made so in 1629 to boost river-borne trade, you pass by sites where ancient settlements and Roman encampments once stood. The tranquil journey takes you under historic bridges, past remnants of the once-prosperous St Neots Priory, and near the old battlegrounds of the English Civil War. The lush riverbanks are rich with wildlife, providing a peaceful backdrop as you explore a waterway that has been central to the town's development since the Iron Age. Whether you're an experienced paddler or a novice, the River Great Ouse offers a picturesque and historically enriched setting for your adventure.
