About
Canoeing, kayaking, or paddleboarding along the Grand Union Canal through the village of Catherine-de-Barnes offers a serene and picturesque experience, blending natural beauty with rich local history. The canal, which is part of a major waterway connecting London to Birmingham, meanders through this quaint village known for its charming 19th-century cottages and historic pub, The Boat Inn, which has served travellers for generations. As you paddle along the tranquil waters towards Knowle, you may encounter a variety of wildlife, including kingfishers, herons, and moorhens, as well as the occasional swan. The lush greenery and overhanging willows provide a peaceful canopy, making it an ideal spot for nature and paddlesport enthusiasts.

Parking
DO NOT try to drive down to the canoe club along the towpath driveway. Turning a car round is very difficult and dangerous if there are paddlers gathering. If you park in the pub car park please ensure that you go in for a post paddle drink or snack!
Blue Badge holders – we will keep an area coned off for your use by the get-in. Please take extra care when travelling down the towpath driveway.

No refreshments on site but The Boat pub serves food all day, plus there is a small minimarket opposite which also sells hot drinks.
