About
Nestled in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, just five miles south of Aviemore, and 6 miles east (up the Ski road) are Loch Insh and Loch Morlich.
Loch Insh - offers an idyllic setting for the new AquaPaddle location. This freshwater loch, situated near the village of Kincraig, is renowned for its serene waters and picturesque surroundings. The Loch Insh Outdoor Centre, located on the southeast side of the loch, provides a hub for various water-based activities, including sailing, windsurfing, and kayaking. The centre also offers accommodation options such as chalets and a small hotel, making it a convenient base for paddlers seeking to explore the area.
The region surrounding Loch Insh is a haven for diverse flora and fauna, offering nature enthusiasts ample opportunities for wildlife observation. The nearby Insh Marshes are dominated by sedge plants and host a variety of flowering species, including the least water lily and cowbane. Birdwatchers may be rewarded with sightings of ospreys, Eurasian wigeons, and goldeneyes. Notably, the area provides a habitat for majestic golden eagles, which can occasionally be seen soaring over the loch and surrounding hills. These impressive birds, with wingspans exceeding two metres, are among Scotland's most iconic raptors.
Loch Morlich - Is a stunning Loch over looked by some of the biggest mountains in Britain. This freshwater loch, situated near the little hamlet of Glenmore, it is renowned for its serene waters and stunning back drop of the Cairngorm Mountains. The Loch Morlich Outdoor Centre, located on the North side of the loch, provides a hub for various water-based activities, including SUP, windsurfing, and kayaking. To the west side is the Loch Morlich sailing club which offers a full range of sailing experiences throughout the summer months. Its also a hot spot for wild water dippers.

Parking
Loch Insh - There is a carpark at the watersport centre, a small charge may apply at busy times, alternativly the near by Alive church car park SCA approved get in point is free. Please avoid this on the second Sunday in the month due to local church services.
Loch Morlich - There is a very large Forestry Commission car park (small charges apply) and some free road side parking next the the Loch Morlich sailing club.
Refreshments
Loch Insh water sports centre has a cafe open from 0930 until late. An alternative is The Old Post Office cafe in Kingcraig which an exceptional cake selection.
Loch Morlich has a Cafe at Glenmore visitors centre, Watersports centre or the Pine Martin all approximate 2 kms away.
Water will be available at the registration point if required.
