THE SUPERFestival EXCITEMENT IS BUILDING
Thursday 21 Aug 2025 | by Sarah Thornely - SUPJunkie
In just over two weeks’ time, on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September, the 2025 Edition of SUPERFestival will launch in stunning Torbay.

Along the dramatic coastline and in the sheltered marina, the water will come alive with paddlers of all abilities joining in a multitude of activities and races throughout the weekend and we cannot wait to see you all there!
2024 was the inaugural event and for those of you who came, you will remember the fun we had on and off the water – 2025 plans to be even better so let us share what we know and what you can expect from this year’s event.
What is SUPERFestival all about?
Formerly known as the SUPERCHAMPS, SUPERFestival has blossomed into a multi-discipline SUP event, open to everyone – from seasoned racers to curious beginners and families. The festival will transform Torquay’s main beach, Torre Abbey Sands, and the Inner Harbour, into a playground for all things paddleboarding.

The brainchild of World Record holder, Brendon Prince, the weekend will be structured exactly like the 2026 ICF SUP World Cup, giving you a taste of elite-level competition in a welcoming, festival-style atmosphere.
A race format for every paddler
Whether you are a competitive or first-time paddler, there is a place for you at SUPERFestival;
Sprint Racing will certainly get your heart racing with 100-150 straight-line blasts with heat starts from a pontoon, dash to the beach, then a short sprint to the finish.
The Technical Race will test your board skills with multiple buoy turns and a start/finish on the beach.
The Distance Race will see you paddle along the beautiful coastline to Paignton Harbour and back.
One Design Racing is fast making a popular comeback where everyone competes on equal boards so may the best paddler win!
Juniors are very welcome with discounted or free entry with Paddle UK membership and course lengths have been adjusted to make sure it is a great experience for them.

SUP Polo is just the best thing to watch or take part in. It’s a spectator-friendly sport happening all day Saturday in the Inner Harbour. You can watch last year’s final match on our YouTube Channel here SUP Polo Match.
AquaPaddle will also be there for all to join in – a friendly, all-inclusive 5km challenge for paddlers on any craft at Torre Abbey Sands.
We also cannot wait to watch the Mega SUP Racing which is happening to raise money for the water-safety education charity, Above Water. Racing on a huge board with all your mates – what could be more fun!
Why Torbay?
Set on The English Riviera with UNESCO Global Geopark status, the location lends itself perfectly to holding this type of event. There are sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters, with huge support from the Council and local businesses. For Torbay, this is more than an event – it’s part of a bold, multi-year strategy to elevate SUP to international standards while promoting sustainability, tourism, and water safety.

Paddle UK and event founder Brendon Prince are leading the way, with a ten-year plan that culminates in the 2026 ICF SUP World Cup being held in Torbay.
So how can we tempt you to come and join in?
The vibe for starters – it’s huge! Paddlers of all abilities will have the best weekend by just turning up and meeting their SUP tribe. We all know the community is a thing and it will very much be present at SUPERFestival whether you are there for either the Saturday, Sunday or the whole weekend.

If you book multiple races, you will get entry discount and free tickets for you or your friends which could mean having a go at a discipline that maybe new to you.
Paddle UK member perks for the juniors, with free or heavily discounted entries.
Festival merch – we love a branded tee and for 2025 we welcome back Shoretees Boardwear – you can shop for these items right now on their website here SUPERFestival Merch!
Why you should be there!
It’s accessible whether you are a complete beginner or seasoned racer, there are tailored races for all.
It’s progressive – come and experience a World Cup setup before the big event lands in Torbay in 2026.

It’s social – meet your fellow SUP enthusiasts, new and old friends and enjoy a lively atmosphere.
It’s scenic – whether you’ve been before or not, you will know that Torbay is beautiful and one of the most scenic places to paddle on the South Coast.
Ready to join in?
It could not be simpler, head on over to SUPERFestival info and entry page and check out your options for entry – be sure to read each entry button carefully so you don’t miss out on any potential saving.
Even if racing isn’t your thing, come on down to the multi-event sites, Torre Abbey Sands and Torquay’s Inner Harbour. Watch the action, cheer paddlers on, join in SUP polo, or plan a paddle of your own in the beautiful English Riviera waters.
